Sparta Garbage Service

Garbage Service is available to all town residents within the City Limits. The garbage fee is $7.50 a month for residential. (Fees vary for businesses with dumpsters.) Business garbage collection is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Residential is Tuesdays, and on Thursdays, cardboard pick-up and recycling collection is on alternate weeks. (Recycling dates are printed on monthly water bills.)

Special Trash Pick-up is in the Spring and Fall and is also printed on the water bills.

All trash must be put in metal or plastic receptacle and placed at the curbside by 6:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. 90 gallon rolling trash cans are available for purchase at the Town Office for $70.00. Payment can be one of two ways: 1) a one-time payment of $69.50; 2) $10 added to the water bill until the trash can is paid for.

Sparta Water Bill Information

Water meters are read in increments of three books. Book one is read on the first Tuesday of the month, book two is read the second Tuesday, and book three the third. To understand which book your residence is in, look at the number printed in the bottom right corner. In an example like 03-003340, the 03 is for "book three."

Water bills are mailed at the first of the month and due by the 15th of the month. If not paid by the 20th, service may be disconnected and a reconnection fee of $10 charged before service resumes.
