Blast and Drilling Warning
Contractors will carry out blasting and drilling at the Sparta Waste Water Treatment Plant, located at 140 River Rd. These activities are scheduled to start on January 19, 2026, and should be finished by February 6, 2026. Before starting, a pre-blasting survey team will visit all residences within 500 feet of the blast zone. With homeowners' permission, they will inspect and document the properties' condition before blasting. This inspection is voluntary but necessary if property damage results from blasting. If the property owner is unavailable during the visit, the team will leave a door hanger requesting that the owner contact them.
The town does not oversee the pre-blast survey team; that responsibility lies with the construction contract, and issues are directed to the contractors. Residents in the blast zone should promptly contact the survey team, and those outside the zone should be aware of loud blasts. Blasting is scheduled to begin on January 19, 2026, and should end by February 6, 2026, barring delays.

José G. H. Butrón, MPA

Town Manager

Bills for the current billing cycle have been delayed due to the need to compile data from two systems. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a backlog for individuals associated with Book 1 of the old manual meter system. Consequently, these individuals will observe a reading reflecting 50 to 60 days on their water bills. Accordingly, the town will not impose late fees for January and February as the new system undergoes full integration. Residents receiving significantly higher bills, with an increased number of days, will be permitted to split their payments to avoid upfront large costs. We recognize that this may still lead to confusion and misunderstandings. We highly recommend that all customers contact the town hall with any questions; our staff will provide assistance, including help with splitting bills and ensuring timely payments. We anticipate resolving all technical issues by the March billing cycle.
